Aging treatment refers to the heat treatment process of metal or alloy workpieces (such as low carbon steel) after solution treatment, from high-temperature quenching or a certain degree of cold working deformation, at a higher temperature or room temperature to maintain their shape and size, and their properties change with time. Generally speaking, after aging, hardness and strength increase, while plastic toughness and internal stress decrease. Steel with high carbon content has high hardness immediately after quenching, but its plasticity becomes very low. After quenching, the strength or hardness of aluminum alloy does not reach its peak immediately, but its plasticity does not decrease, but increases. The strength and hardness of the quenched alloy increased significantly, while the plasticity decreased after a considerable period (e.g. 4-6 days and nights) at room temperature. The phenomenon that the strength and hardness of this quenched alloy change significantly with time is called aging. Aging at room temperature is called natural aging, and aging at a certain temperature is called artificial aging. Aging treatment is to store the material consciously at room temperature or higher temperature for a long time to produce the aging process
